I have witnessed a new lynching
Knees replaced ropes
Bullets replaced whip lashes
White klan sheets are now
Blue t-shirts with badges of no integrity
yet I hear the Same Negroes spiritual cries of
Mama mama mama
Passed down from generation to generation
From mama, papa
Grandma grandpa
Great and great
Greats of twos, fours and eights
A Forgotten pyramid
But remembered family tree
Rememberance though of the first set of lynching
Passed down in memory
A hieroglyphics feeling
But no real African image
Only a white man's dream come true
This is what we've passed down to our youth
And we use prayers as ancestor flutes
We Always start in the middle
And never at the roots
The blackest berries, coffee cherries
Sweetest of all juice
Now I understand what we had to go through
You can't be the next white woman or white man and be free
You have to choose which one to be
....(to be continued)
