Hands That Once Picked Cotton

Hands that once picked cotton

Can now pick presidents

But the cost is.... Depends on your residence

Hands that once picked cotton

Can be doctors now

The cost is.. black women continue to die during child birth because their need of care is turned down

Hands that once picked cotton

Became president

The cost is... black folks still suffered

More than any other resident

Hands that once picked cotton

Can now practice law

But the cost is.... To turn the other cheek from what you really saw

Hands that once picked cotton

Can now buy land

But the cost is only if you obey the feeding hand

Hands that once picked cotton

Can now read and write

But the cost is.... Never about our history and never about  our rights.

Hands that once picked cotton

Can now elevate and grow

But the cost is... To stroke their ego and be a better negro

Hands that once picked cotton

Can now love thyself

But the cost is... The cost is...

Not really... Not  really thyself...

Peaceful Words

I can read between metaphors using metaphors to read it while I write it A gift which brings peace Or a piece of understanding Or again, peace from knowledge From experience From wisdom From freedom..

Stitches of my heart

Stitches of my Heart Do you know how to sow If a woman can do a quick weave I don't see why not Or a surgeon getting ready for operation Or a woman who just had a c- section Hey, snitches get stitches
