Coming From...

Coming from sweet yams

land of okra seeds

where respect is earned from noble deeds

where we can talk to flowers and trees

coming from sweet yams

land of okra seeds

Little miss muffet

sitting on a bucket

not scared of lions or tigers

but scared of spiders and yet one sat beside her

enjoying Ulu mangoes buttered in gold

Anansi appear to the truth untold

webbing out lies that have been sold

Do you know where your breadfruit came from

to feed you, your daughter and son

you sweet gray granny

your praying enslaved mammy

breastfeeding many children

pure milk by the million

coming from sweet yams

land of okra seeds

where respect is earned from noble deeds

where we can talk to flowers and trees

coming from sweet yams

land of okra seeds

Peaceful Words

I can read between metaphors using metaphors to read it while I write it A gift which brings peace Or a piece of understanding Or again, peace from knowledge From experience From wisdom From freedom..

Stitches of my heart

Stitches of my Heart Do you know how to sow If a woman can do a quick weave I don't see why not Or a surgeon getting ready for operation Or a woman who just had a c- section Hey, snitches get stitches
